How to Set Up Qlip: Step-by-Step Installation and Device Pairing

Setting up Qlip takes less than two minutes. Once paired, Qlip runs quietly in the background, synchronizing text, links, code snippets, and screenshots across all your screens in real time.

This guide walks you through downloading Qlip, pairing your first two devices, and testing your setup.

Step 1: Download & Install Qlip

First, install Qlip on the devices you want to sync:

• macOS: Download Qlip.dmg from useqlip.com/download, open the DMG file, and drag Qlip to your Applications folder. On first launch, grant Qlip Accessibility permissions so it can detect system copy events.
• Windows: Download Qlip-Setup.exe from useqlip.com/download and follow the standard installation wizard. Qlip will launch in your system tray.
• iOS & Android: Install Qlip via useqlip.com/download.

Step 2: Pair Your First Two Devices

Device pairing uses Curve25519 End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) to ensure only your authorized hardware can read your clipboard data.

1. Open Qlip on Device A (e.g., your MacBook Pro). Click on the Qlip menu bar icon and select Pair New Device.
2. A 6-digit numeric Pairing Code (e.g., 482-915) will display on Device A’s screen along with a QR code.
3. Open Qlip on Device B (e.g., your Windows desktop or iPhone). Select Add Device and enter the 6-digit code (or scan the QR code using your mobile camera).
4. Both screens will display a visual confirmation prompt. Tap Confirm Pairing.
